GUIDE (Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience)
Dementia Support for You and Your Family
Caring for someone with dementia can be overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone. Medicare’s Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) program provides personalized dementia support, care coordination, education, ongoing guidance and approximately 76 hours of no-cost respite care each year for eligible participants.
GUIDE helps people living with dementia and the family members and caregivers who support them.

Respite hours provide additional support when you need time to rest, recharge, or attend to personal needs.
Caring for yourself helps you care for your loved one.
GUIDE provides approximately 76 hours of covered respite care annually (about $2,500 in services) so caregivers can attend appointments, work, run errands or simply recharge.

How It Works
Getting started with GUIDE is simple:
- Contact our TeamCall, text or email us to see if GUIDE may be able to help.
- Check EligibilityWe will help see if you qualify for GUIDE. You must have Medicare A and B.
- Begin Receiving SupportMedicare approval usually takes 2–3 weeks.
How to Check Eligibility Using Your Medicare Card
Checking eligibility for the GUIDE program starts with your Medicare card. This card includes the information needed to verify coverage.
- Medicare Number – This is the unique number printed on the front of your card. It is not your Social Security number.
- Part A and Part B Coverage – GUIDE is available to individuals enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B.
